DISCOVER THE MECHANICAL ADVANTAGE OF GEAR REDUCTION

The StinGR is a belt-driven gear reduction system that provides the same mechanical advantage as an automobile mesh-geared transmissions, chain driven bicycle gearing, and motorcycle belt drive systems. It amplifies torque-force through a gear ratio that takes the high RPM of an outrunner motor spinning over 23,000 RPM, where all the Horsepower is, and reduces it to the mid-6000 RPM where all the torque is. This reduction in RPM helps accelerate larger propellers to more thrust and speed, with more efficiency and less current than non-geared outrunners of the same weight.

Non-RC engines that use gear reduction are the famous Merlin engines powering Spitfires and Mustangs of WWII, all the way through time to the modern Yamaha 998T. Most importantly, all full-scale turbine engines use gear reduction to go from 33,000 RPM down to under 2,000 RPM to provide the torque that's needed for large 5-blade propellers. The StinGR brings this advantage to RC by providing the extra torque for more output performance with NO weight penalty. It enables more propeller disk area for more thrust, or more pitch for both thrust and speed, resulting in instant acceleration with the same throttle response that we are used to from non-gear electric systems and gas engines.
